FASD Day marks 20 years
On September 9, 2019 the FASD community gathered at Fort Calgary to recognize the 20th anniversary of FASD Day. The program centered on the theme of what we know and where we go next. CFAN was pleased to have Journalist Vanessa Hrvatin speak to her ground breaking FASD series, published in the National Post. Social worker and researcher Peter Choate also spoke regarding trends in FASD research, gaps and policy for the future. Over 100 people were in attendance, including 52 caregivers and individuals with FASD and 65 FASD professionals. The event additionally provided an opportunity to recognize Suzanne Johnson of the MediGene Clinic for her long service to the FASD community. CFAN was extremely proud to premiere a new video, “Erika’s Story”, as part of the event and we invite you to visit our YouTube channel to view her inspirational story. CFAN thanks all who attended FASD Day and looks forward to our continued work in the FASD field.
